ALPHA-H is an Australian skincare brand, founded by Michelle Doherty, that became known for Liquid Gold: an exfoliating treatment with glycolic acid. The brand works with active ingredients in clear percentages, with one product per ingredient. That way, you put together a routine based on what your skin needs. ALPHA-H is the brand of clear choices: one serum per active ingredient, one exfoliant, two SPF day creams. What we most often advise in practice: don't start with Liquid Gold, but with the basics. Choose a cleanser suited to your skin type, plus the Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF50+ during the day.
Then add one serum for your biggest skin concern. The Vitamin B Serum suits a shiny T-zone, and the Vitamin C Serum suits a more even skin tone. The Vitamin E Serum suits skin that flushes easily.
Add Liquid Gold after that, every other day, up to three times a week. Never use it on the same evening as a vitamin A product. Liquid Gold and glycolic acid. The Liquid Gold + Vitamin C (5% glycolic acid with vitamin C) is the best-known product in this group. The Liquid Gold Firming Eye Cream follows, along with the Midnight Reboot Serum and the Beauty Sleep Power Peel. The last two contain 14% glycolic acid and a form of vitamin A. The After Hours AHA Moisturiser completes the group, for evening use with SPF during the day.
Vitamin serums. One serum per active ingredient: the Vitamin C Serum (14 reviews) for the morning, and the Vitamin B Serum with 5% niacinamide (14 reviews). The range also includes the Vitamin A Serum with 0.5% vitamin A and the Vitamin E Serum for sensitive skin. There's also the Hyaluronic 8 Super Serum and the Multi-Peptide Revitalise Serum.
Cleansers and tonics. The Melting Moment Cleansing Balm (20 reviews, 4.9 out of 5) is the first cleansing step for most routines. The Balancing Cleanser suits dry and sensitive skin, and the Triple Action Cleanser suits combination skin. The Clear Skin Wash and Tonic contain salicylic acid for blemish-prone skin.
SPF50+ day creams. The Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF50+ (18 reviews) contains aloe vera and vitamin E. The Protection Plus Daily SPF50+ has a matte finish.
Creams. The Essential Hydration Cream (10 reviews, 4.9 out of 5) contains jojoba and macadamia oil. The High Tide Water Cream suits dehydrated skin, and the Firming Collagen Repair Cream contains ceramides.

Morning: cleanse with the Balancing or Triple Action Cleanser, apply the Vitamin C Serum, then a cream, and finish with the Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF50+. Evening: cleanse, starting with the Melting Moment Cleansing Balm if you're wearing make-up. On glycolic acid evenings, no more than three evenings a week, use only Liquid Gold. On other evenings, use a serum, Vitamin A, B, or E, plus a cream.

How do I use Liquid Gold?

Look at your biggest skin concern: even tone (C), shine and pores (B), sensitivity (E), moisture (Hyaluronic 8), first fine lines (A).
Can I combine Liquid Gold with retinol?
Not on the same evening. Alternate between the two.
Is ALPHA-H suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, with the right choices: the Vitamin E Serum, the Balancing Cleanser, and the Essential Hydration Cream. Build up products with glycolic acid extra gradually, or leave them out.
