Over Eye Creams, Gels and Masks

The skin around your eyes is thinner than the rest of your face and moves all day long. That's why fine lines show up there first, and why this area also holds on to fluid more easily, in the form of puffiness. An eye cream has a lighter formula than a face cream and is designed for that thin skin. Buying an eye cream is easiest when you have one clear goal in mind. This collection holds eye creams, eye gels and eye masks.

Which eye cream suits your goal?

  • Tired eyes, puffiness and dark circles. A light gel feels cool and absorbs quickly. The Image Skincare VITAL C Hydrating Eye Recovery Gel is made for this.
  • Crow's feet and fine lines. The ALPHA-H Absolute Eye Complex targets fine lines, dark circles and puffiness together. Read more about fine lines.
  • Dull or uneven eye contour. The mesoestetic age element brightening eye contour has a brightening effect.
  • A quick refresh. For a short pick-me-up, there are Image Skincare IMAGE MD Restoring Eye Masks, cooling eye masks.

How do you apply an eye cream?

  • One grain of rice per eye is enough. More product doesn't absorb any faster and quickly starts to feel heavy.
  • Pat, don't rub. Use your ring finger and tap the product onto the bone around the eye socket, not right under your lashes.
  • Keep some distance from the eye. Stay about a centimetre from the lash line, which reduces irritation. If the packaging says otherwise, follow that instead.
  • After your serum, before your cream. The eye cream is thinner, so it goes on first. Read more about our serums.
  • Give it time. For fine lines, count on weeks to months. Puffiness from a short night disappears faster than puffiness you were simply born with.

Advice from our skin therapist

We're often asked whether an eye cream is really necessary, or whether you can just use your day cream around your eyes. You can, but a rich cream is often too heavy for that thin skin and can leave a puffy feeling.

Our advice: pick one goal. For tired-looking eyes, choose a light gel. For fine lines, choose something with more nourishing ingredients and use it in the evening.

Dark circles are often hereditary or come from the shape of your eye socket. A cream does little for that; expect a fresher, smoother-looking result instead.
