The K18 Hair Repair Oil is a leave-in hair oil by K18, full name K18 Molecular Repair Hair Oil. You apply it before styling on damp hair, or as a final step on dry hair. The core active is sh-Oligopeptide-78, a peptide. Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the building blocks of keratin, the protein hair is made of. K18 calls this its patented K18PEPTIDE™ technology.

K18 states that this peptide repairs bonds between hair proteins inside the hair fibre. Those bonds can break from heat, colouring or bleaching. The visible result is less frizz and more shine. The formula is silicone-free and ultra-light, and works like a concentrated, drop-dosed treatment, similar to how you would use a serum.

The K18 Hair Repair Oil suits all hair types, from fine to thick. Hair weakened by colouring, bleaching or frequent heat styling benefits from it in particular. It adds protection and shine without weighing fine hair down.

How do you use the K18 Hair Repair Oil?

You use the K18 Hair Repair Oil in two ways. Before styling, apply 1 to 3 drops to damp or towel-dried hair, spread from mid-lengths to ends. This reduces frizz and strengthens the hair fibre. Leave it in for 4 minutes. On dry hair, use the oil as a final step. A small amount over the lengths controls flyaways and frizz, and adds extra shine.

Do you combine the K18 Hair Repair Oil with the K18 Hair Repair Mask?

You can use the K18 Hair Repair Oil on its own, but it also combines with the K18 Hair Repair Mask 50 ml. Both contain the same sh-Oligopeptide-78 and are designed to work one after the other. Apply the mask first and leave it in for 4 minutes. Follow with the oil and leave that in for another 4 minutes before you style.

Active ingredients

sh-Oligopeptide-78 (K18PEPTIDE™). The core active in the oil. The bonds this peptide repairs are disulfide bridges: chemical bonds between sulphur atoms in keratin that break from heat or a colour treatment. K18 states this makes hair more resilient and smoother.

Squalane. A light, plant-derived oil that coats the hair fibre without feeling greasy, so hair feels more supple.

Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil. Avocado oil, rich in fatty acids. It lays a soft layer over the hair shaft, for more shine and fewer tangles.

Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oil. Sunflower oil, rich in fatty acids. It supports the outer hair layer against frizz and split ends.

Tocopherol. The scientific name for vitamin E, an antioxidant. It captures free radicals, particles that can damage the hair fibre over time, helping hair stay supple for longer.
